Passion and athletic creativity. In all the ways high-level alpine able bodied and Adaptive racing is alike, there are some differences that require a strong work ethic and creativity. Every single athlete has all the same standard differences in “coachability,” athleticism, mental strength and commitment, but when you tack on the physical differences and the fact that each person needs to ski the same course, use the same equipment, and do it with and different set of physical challenges than the next athlete, The creativity required to coach is amazing. We are giving each person with a disability and the passion to compete the same opportunity’s to succeed and fail as their able bodied counterpart.”

Path to the #AdaptiveNation:

During my years as a National Team Coach, I started working with some of the NAC athletes or had some of them on the National Team. I always enjoyed the NAC Athletes and staff. But at the same time, I always saw a lost opportunity for the program to be one of the best in the country. After my time with the national team came to an end, I went back to Able bodied ski racing for a while. I always missed the adaptive world and once I decided to come back, I took a job with the International Paralympic committee for a season, and then I was sought out to apply for a newly created full time coach position. It was really hard to say “no”! So I interviewed, was offered the position, and now I get to be a part of a great organization and build the team and race program I always thought the NAC should have.
