Del Taco Raises Awareness for National Ability Center’s Commitment to Adaptive Nation by Securing $45,200 in Donations

Month-long fundraiser brings in record high amount for local adaptive recreation organization

PARK CITY, UTAH (Jan. 14, 2020) – Since 2010, Utah’s locally owned Del Taco restaurants and guests have supported the National Ability Center, a leading non-profit organization that provides world-class adaptive recreation and Splore outdoor adventures for individuals and families of differing abilities. Del Taco customers had the option of adding a donation to their order total over the course of the two week long fundraiser. 2019’s total of $45,200 set a record high, bringing the year-over-year grand sum to over $300,000 since 2010. All proceeds are gifted directly to the National Ability Center and support its overall mission to empower participants by building self-esteem, confidence and lifetime skills through inclusive programming and activities.

“A fundraiser of this magnitude and the unmatched community support we have received has a substantial impact on our capability to serve people of all abilities including competitive athletes, youth, veterans and more,” said Kevin Stickelman, CEO of the National Ability Center. “The generosity of Del Taco and their guests positively affects the over 7,000 participants that we serve each year and helps build necessary facilities in order to triple NAC’s capacity by 2030.”

In combination with the National Ability Center current multi-year “I Can” Capital Campaign, this annual fundraiser assists in supplying equipment, improving and constructing new facilities, as well as, providing scholarships to individuals to participate in various camps and programs. Community support through organizations like Del Taco play an integral role in the NAC’s expansion plans and efforts to continue improving their recreation facilities, providing superior education, and offering inclusive programming and activities 365-days a year.

“We are extremely grateful for our customers’ kindness and their willingness to pay-it-forward,” said Paul Hitzelberger, President and Owner of Utah Del Taco. “Each year, the final donation given to the National Ability Center is record breaking, and we are always incredibly excited to host this campaign. Del Taco is passionate about providing the best quality and value to its patrons; we are honored to work alongside an organization that emulates those same core values and is leading the charge in its industry not only locally, but globally.”

On Jan. 6, the Del Taco team presented the check to the National Ability Center team members at the Del Taco Park City, Utah restaurant location. As dedicated partners, both organizations look forward to the next fundraiser and developing additional community programs together in the near future.
