In Memoriam: Brownie

Haflinger Cross

Captain Brownie trotted into our hearts all the way from a Missouri farm in 2006. This beloved therapy horse, 2012 NAC Equine of the Year, greeted each day with a hearty whinny as he stands by the gate, eagerly awaiting his breakfast. Beyond his morning serenades, Captain Brownie was a patient and nurturing teacher, particularly adored by our younger participants. With a knack for bringing confidence to all his riders, this warm-hearted horse was a steadfast companion to many participants, staff members, and volunteers over his 17 years at the National Ability Center. Brownie will be missed dearly by us all.

We invite you to stand alongside our incredible sponsors who support our horses’ well-being. As they say, it takes a village, and we’re delighted to welcome you to the community!
