Therapeutic Recreation Interns assist in all aspects of programs and administration. They are supervised by a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist while performing tasks as outlined by the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification. Based on experience, the intern may also serve in a leadership role, as an instructor or facilitator. Interns also provide information on current trends in therapeutic recreation services, through projects, presentations, and staff in-services.
Marketing Interns at the National Ability Center support a wide range of marketing activities, including content creation, digital strategy, and community engagement. Under the guidance of experienced marketing professionals, interns play an active role in promoting the organization’s adaptive recreation programs through both digital and print media. The internship offers opportunities to develop skills in strategic marketing, campaign development, social media, and branding while contributing to outreach efforts that support the NAC’s mission.
We are currently not accepting applications for marketing internships.
Our NAC Day Camp Interns assist in the facilitation of outdoor recreation, camp activities, and adaptive techniques in a day camp setting for individuals with and without disabilities, ages 6-30.
The National Ability Center’s COACH program is designed to create a structured and successful continuum of growth and learning for young adults with disabilities that enable them to transition from school to work. This program is based on our belief that sports are an excellent catalyst for teaching vital life skills. This Internship is available to those ages 16-22 with a disability. The intern must be independent or provide a personal care attendant and transportation to the National Ability.
