MAKE A DIFFERENCE

Put information learned in the classroom to work while you gain on-the-job experience. Interns may be currently enrolled, recent graduates or experienced professionals looking to gain exposure to a new career or field. Internships range from part-time (as little as ten hours/week) up to full time positions for three to four months. Be sure to check out our supported COACH Internships for interns with cognitive or physical disabilities.

POSITIONS AND INFORMATION

Day Camp Internship

Our NAC Day Camp Interns assist in facilitation of outdoor recreation activities and adaptive techniques in a Day Camp setting for children with and without disabilities, ages 6-30. To apply please email Andrea at AndreaS@discovernac.org. Check out the intern description here!

Therapeutic Recreation

Therapeutic Recreation Interns assist in all aspects of programs and administration. They are supervised by a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist while performing tasks as outlined by the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification. Based on experience, the intern may also serve in a leadership role, as an instructor or facilitator. Interns also provide information on current trends in therapeutic recreation services, through projects, presentations, and staff in-services.

Equestrian Internships

COACH (supported internship for Interns with disabilities)

COACH Internships provide a structured continuum of growth and learning for young adults (ages 16–22) with disabilities.

HOW TO APPLY FOR INTERNSHIPS:

  1. Complete the online application.
  2. Include a cover letter and resume. The cover letter should include:
    • The internship in which you are applying.
    • How the internship will benefit your goals.
    • The period of time you are available.

All Equestrian Internships: Please include a riding video with your application demonstrating the following: walk, trot/jog (sitting & posting) and canter/lope in both directions.
